• Dulles Rail Pier Inspections
  • The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has submitted to the Federal Transit agency plans to test the piers installed as part of the initial construction of I66 in the 1970s built for the eventual expansion of rail to Dulles airport. The proposed testing plans are included in the referenced letter

  4. We are the only non-partisan, volunteer, and non-profit County-wide organization representing the concerns of homeowner and community associations.
  5. We focus objectively on your association's problems.

  7. We have more than 60 years of local, state, and regional experience and influence.
  8. You have a seat at the table. When County Supervisors ask for citizen recommendations on any subject, they ask the Federation.
  9. We speak on your behalf at public hearings, through written statements, in task forces and commissions, and through the media.
  10. We need you and your organization. The more people we represent, the more effective we are.
  We invite you to join the Federation if your homeowner or civic association has a minimum of 10 housing units. Our Membership Application has more information. Dues are payable in June of each year and range from $20 to $60 depending on the size of your organization. Larger organizations may pay higher dues but have more representatives

  • A new opportunity for Fairfax County residents to share their comments, concerns and ideas regarding the Park Authority launched in March 09: Listening Forums
  • It's a new twist on an old concept: go to where the people are and reach out! Citizens can choose from nine locations around the county at which to discuss topics of their choice.
  • The nine forums are scheduled on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. Input on how the Park Authority can best meet the community's needs is invited. Staff will use the gathered information to guide decisions regarding the organization and the agency's service delivery.

• Right now the Federation County Federation of Citizens Associations is accepting nominations for its annual Citizen of the Year Award.
  • Do you know any person who you think has done an outstanding job that warrants being named as Fairfax County Citizen of the Year? If so, you are encouraged to visit the Citizen of the Year page, and either follow the instructions and mail in your nomination or complete the online nomination form
  • One person is celebrated as COY, but others may be selected as Citation of Merit Honorees, so recommend the people you think are deserving of these honors.
  • The 2009 Nomination form is available online and in RTF format and nominations will be accepted until 31 Jan 10.
  • After the nomination period is closed, a selection committee of County-wide organizations will meet to select the Federation's "Citizen of the Year" and merit awards. The winners are honored at the Federation's annual Banquet, scheduled for the Spring.
