The meeting was called to order by Council President Mark McConn at 7:30 PM.

- This meeting was jointly sponsored with the League of Woman Voters of the Fairfax Area (LWVFA), the American Association of University Women of Virginia (AAUW), the Zeta Phi Beta (ZPB) Sorority, Inc., and the Fairfax County Council of PTAs (FCCPTA)
- All announced Sully District candidates running for Fairfax County positions were invited to make brief statements and respond to questions. Candidates unable to attend were invited to send a proxy to give their opening remarks, although the proxy could not participate in the following Question and Answer session.
- The candidates invited included;
- Board of Supervisors - John P. Guevara (R) and Kathy L. Smith (D)
- School Board Representative - Karen A. Keys-Gamarra (D-endorsed) and Thomas A. Wilson (R-endorsed)
- The attending candidates, Ms. Smith and Ms. Keys-Gamarra, were introduced and then given the opportunity to make opening remarks on various topics. After opening remarks, each candidate responded to questions from the moderator.
- Thomas A. Wilson, R-endorsed Candidate for School Board, although unable to attend, had sent a notice to the LVWFA moderator that a family emergency kept him away.
- After the Supervisor and School Board candidates Q & A period was over, other attending candidates were introduced, including:
- Arthur Purves - Board Chair (R)
- Bryan Wolfe - Sheriff (R)
- Scott Cameron - NVS&WCD member (R-endorsed)
- Jerry Foltz - 40th Assembly District (D)
- Ted Velkoff - At large School Board (D-endorsed)
- Candidates Night attendees were encouraged to spend the remainder of the evening meeting with the candidates to speak with them of their concerns.
